In my 2006 cap and gown at the 2014 DTCC graduation.
Written in 2005, this educational philosophy has been my mindset throughout my teaching career. I refer to it often and remind myself of the most important value stated in the following philosophy: I am a partner in learning. When I wrote that statement, I meant that I would support my students in any way possible. However, as I have grown as an educator, I realize that that statement is more powerful and more important than ever:
I am a partner to my students, a partner to my colleagues, and a partner in my college community in supporting our student success endeavors.
While the "buzz words" may have changed over the years, my techniques and strategies have grown, and my professionalism has evolved, the ideals presented in 2005 have not.
